2016 West Point Mint (W) Burnished Silver American Eagle (SAE) MS70 NGC Brown Label

The year 2016 marks the 30th Anniversary of the bullion issue Silver American Eagle, to mark the anniversary, each 2016 SAE in Burnished version has edge incused lettering around the rim of the coin that says "30th ANNIVERSARY".

The term "Uncirculated-burnished" refers to the specialized minting process used to create these coins. Although they are similar in appearance to the ordinary Uncirculated (BU) Silver American Eagle Bullion Coins, the burnished coins can be easily distinguished by the addition of a 'W' mintmark on the reverse and the satin-like field behind the frosted features on the coin. Burnished ASEs are made expressly for collectors and still contain 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
